Bargain-priced? Sure, I’d buy it.

I particularly could have used that trunk-loaded giant boxing glove yesterday on a driver that was stuck in traffic right behind me, leaning on her horn trying to get me to move when I was very obviously blocked by a truck stopped right in front of me:

Of course, if it were a big ol’ freaking Joker car in front of that person, I doubt she’d been honking, because, well, I’m sure she wouldn’t want a repeat of what happened to poor ol’ Charlie.

Anyway, let’s just take a moment and enjoy a fine Batman splash page by Jim Aparo. Fine work by a true comics legend.

  1. Nothing better than a Jim Aparo Batman!
I wonder how many Jokermobiles have existed, over the years? Strictly in the comics, I mean. I rememeber the one designed by Alan Davis, slightly flying saucer shaped… Did anyone take time to make a wikipedia page about them?

  2. When I followed this post’s “Charlie” link to the Wikipedia page, I was amused to learn that “‘Joker’s Favor’ is the twenty-second episode from Batman: The Animated Series.” Talk about compressed storytelling!

  3. Gary Cohn and I did two B&B issues with Jim Aparo, and he was a dream to work with…and a heck of a nice guy.

The other thing I like about this page besides the boxing glove–and had forgotten–is that we begin by quoting the old “learn to throw your voice” ads that appeared along with x-ray specs and sea monkeys on the back covers of comic books way back when. You’d think that would have tipped Batman off that something fishy was going on.
