  6. That series tormented me because while the opening montage included the Riddler (who was my favorite Bat-foe at the time), he was never in the cartoon. I found out 30 years later that it was due to legalities and would never have happened, but you can imagine my disgust when I turned on the show, hoping to see the Riddler at last, and saw ***Sweet F’n Tooth!*****

  8. That clip’s from the first Batman cartoon from the 60s, the one that didn’t have Bat-Mite in it. Both shows looked pretty much the same, so it’s easy to mix them up.

    The second series in the 70s never did have the Riddler, and I was always a bit irked that he popped up in the credits but never in an episode, too. And I have vague memories of his costume being red in the credits, too.

    I have to confess this show is…interesting to me. Bat-Mite gets more tolerable, though he’s still a pain in the neck. And Sweet Tooth was a bit of a horrible anomaly, in that the villains were usually not that dire.

    I dunno. I watched it as a kid and ate it up. I saw it as an adult, and while not a patch on the classic ’90s Batman cartoons, it was entertaining.

  10. I watched, O God, I watched, during the long 70’s nightmare. It wasn’t as bad as Superfriends, but even back then I knew it wasn’t good.
