2. Aaaaaargh….!

   Katzenjammer means hangover and has no real plural and Der Commandos is wrong too (Das Kommando).

   But german in comics is nearly every time painfull :)

   One of the best from Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (I) #6:

   Baron Zemo to Cpt. America: Würfel! wich is the imperativ of würfeln… meaning Throw the dice!

   Würfel ( the noun) is a die… and Stirb!(the verb) is to die :)

3. Sgt fury is not speaking German. Obviously. go look up katzenjammer kids.

Yes, “The Katzenjammer Kids” is a long-running comic strip (actually, TWO long-running comics strips, because the syndicate and the creator both claimed ownership, and when they broke up the creator started his own version, called “The Captain and the Kids”) with German characters. In its heyday, “Katzenjammer” or “Katzie” became a slang term for someone of German heritage. That heyday was well before World War II, but then people often hang onto the slang of their childhoods.

   Some of you may recall that the last name of Fran in the TV series “Black Books” was Katzenjammer. That WAS a hangover reference.

5. The only German I know is from Claremont-penned X-Men comics (Nightcrawler) and playing the first-person shooter; Wolfenstein.

   Okay didn’t know that, never stop learning ;)

   But the Katzies should say Himmel!! Das Kommando!! (or Commandos of Howling Commandos fame)

7. Mike, your insinuations about Sgt. Fury, a character who is supposed to be a soldier, are highly inappropriate and offensive.

8. It should be “Die Kommandos” as in plural of a commando. Truly painful! ;-)
