You mean…like a…mutant?

Recently acquired at the shop…issue #59 of X-Men (August 1969), with a special message for you X-fans scribbled onto the logo by some anonymous comics critic:

And apparently our critic wasn’t satisfied with warning you on the cover…he hit the first page, too:

Just what we needed…a back issue that deliberately insults possible buyers. …Surely that’s my job?

  1. That’s great!
I’m going to go right now and start writing on all my early X-Men comics.Since they should remain collectable forever, what a great way to leave messages to future generations.

  2. “Just what we needed…a back issue that deliberately insults possible buyers. …Surely that’s my job?”

    Nope.

All-Father Ralph sent you all those the POGs to teach you humility.

    So be humble, DAMMIT!

“Only a fool would buy this trash!”

But it takes a greater fool to pass it up.

Never to be inspired by it– maybe learn something from it– and someday become a 99-Cent Kindle Millionaire! Or a funnybook/POG salesman who blogs!

    Nuff said, True Believers!

    Excelsior!

  3. I remember that Adventure Comics with Supergirl you had with all the men ready to be killed by a group of women and someone wrote WAY TO GO, PIXIE PIE between the genders.

  4. I have an old Justice League from when I was 5 or 6 years old and I pencilled in capes on Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. I bet that’ll bolster its value by 100%.

  5. Not comics, but some years back I had a copy of Neal Gabler’s “An Empire Of Their Own: How The Jews Created Hollywood” from out of the local library, and in the index someone had written “GOOD MAN” next to “Hitler, Adolf”.

  6. Given the amount of unbridled hatred X-Men comics seem to incite in fans of, say, The Flash, I’m surprised all your back issues aren’t vandalized.
